Insurance Renewal • Psychologists

Each year, approximately 30 days before April 1, renewal notices are e-mailed to psychologists on a list provided by the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec.

The e-mail contains the invoice with payment instructions, the insurance certificate for the new term and a FAQ document (frequently asked questions).

 

Renouvellement d’assurance • Psychologists operating under a legal corporate form

Each year, approximately 30 days prior to April 1st, renewal notices are sent by email.

In order for us to proceed with the renewal, you must:

  • Fill out and return the renewal application attached to our email.
  • Make sure that each psychologist working in the company has made the payment for his individual liability insurance.
  • Have made the payment for the company’s professional liability insurance.

Once these requirements have been met, you will receive your invoice with the mention “premium paid”, as well as the insurance certificate.

 

New registration • Psychologist

Enrolment in the program is possible at any time.

For the term April 1, 2024 to April 1, 2025, the annual premium is $130.80 including taxes. However, if you register during the year, the full premium is required for applications submitted before September 30. If the application is submitted on or after October 1, the fee is reduced to $65.40 including taxes.

New registration • Psychologists operating under a legal corporate form

In order to join the program, you must:

  • Have completed the new membership form.
  • Make sure that each psychologist working in the company has made the payment for his individual liability insurance.
  • Have made the payment for the company’s professional liability insurance.

Once these requirements have been met, you will receive your invoice with the mention “premium paid”, as well as the insurance certificate.

2 methods of payment are available:

  • By cheque made out to Fort Assurances & Avantages sociaux and mailed to 4 Westmount Square, #200, Westmount, QC, H3Z 2S6
  • By Visa or Mastercard credit card, via this site

First, make sure to notify l’OPQ of your situation in order to change your member category.  Afterwards, refer to one of the following 3 situations:

1- If no professional activity is carried out between April 1st of the current year and April 1st of the following year, payment for insurance is not required.

2- If you resume your professional activities before October 1st of the current year, full payment is required.

3- If you resume your professional activities after October 1st, 50 % of the premium will be required.

If you were insured and retired during a period of insurance for which you paid your premium, you remain insured for subsequent periods of insurance with no additional premium.

If the professional services subject of the lawsuit were rendered while you were a member in good standing of l’Ordre, and insured under Intact’s contract, you benefit from coverage under the terms and conditions of the contract in force at the time of the claim.

Yes, a student under your supervision is considered insured under the contract, but only while performing   his duties on your behalf.

Yes, if you are a member of the OPQ and your practice is private or if you are an employee of an organization that does not offer protection for professional liability.

No.

No, these fees are not covered.

Yes, if the civil action is for professional services covered by the contract, the Insurer has an obligation to defend you in regards to a claim made against you for damages covered by the contract. Defense costs include, but are not limited to, legal expenses, expertise fees and investigation costs.
